Additionally, the Master of Science in Project Management programme is also offered in collaboration with Midocean University, which allows students to get two degrees after fulfilling the degree requirements of the joint programme.

A. Admission of candidates as Postgraduate Qualification Students
- Candidates have to provide the following requirements to be considered eligible for admission to the Maters of Projects Management Program as Postgraduate Qualification Students .

i. A European undergraduate three-year initial degree or recognized equivalent at EQF/MQF (Level 6 - 180 ECTS minimum) or a foreign undergraduate bachelor's degree from outside the Malta equivalent at EQF/MQF (Level 6 - 180 ECTS minimum).

ii. Proof of English Language Proficiency (IELTS: minimum score 6.5 – or TOEFL Minimum score 81 IBT, 213 CBT, or 550 PBT – last degree at a school where English is the primary medium of instruction).

B. Admission of candidates as Professional Award Students
- Students not meeting the conditions applicable to Post Graduate Qualification students may only be admitted to the program as Professional Award Students and shall be resticted by the awards listed at the “Exit Award Section Below”
- Professional Award Students are not permitted to register for dissertaion thesis

The Master of Science in Project Management degree reaches beyond typical project management fundamentals and will provide you with sufficient insights for real-world problems. Our mission is to provide the knowledge, skills, and insights required to manage programs and projects in various business applications and industries. Students will work jointly with a faculty of experts in the project management field to enable learning as a community of professionals.

A project manager plays a pivotal role in the leadership of a project team in order to achieve the project’s objectives. This role is clearly visible throughout the project. These roles reflect the project manager’s capabilities and are representative of the value and contributions of the project management profession. The programme curriculum modules were designed to widely address and align with the qualifications and competencies of Project Managers as defined by prominent international project management standards and guidelines.

The programme equips the learner with the ability to communicate with stakeholders, including the team and sponsors across multiple aspects of the project, as well as, apply power skills to influence, inspire change, and build relationships. Power skills include collaborative leadership skills, communication skills, having an innovative mindset, having a for-purpose orientation, and exercising empathy.

Graduates of the programme possess the necessary attitude, knowledge and skills to act responsibly to carry out activities with integrity, care, and trustworthiness while maintaining compliance with internal and external guidelines, as well as, demonstrate commitment to financial, social, and environmental impacts of the projects they support.

The programme establishes the foundation for project managers to master diverse and creative ways of getting the job done including predictive, agile, design thinking, or other new practices still to be developed. This will allow individuals to quickly shift their way of working as new challenges arise enhancing success by applying the right solutions at the right moment in time.

The programme also provides the knowledge required to master relationship skills and business acumen, which entails the development of extensive networks of people across the project manager's spheres of influence. Formal networks, such as organisational reporting structures, and informal networks, such as the use of established relationships with individuals, such as subject matter experts and influential leaders. The use of these formal and informal networks enables the project manager to engage multiple people in problem solving, as well as navigating project bureaucracies.

To complete the program's requirements, the student has to pass ten courses and one dissertation, which can be completed within one year and four months.

The programme is designed to enable organizational leaders and project managers to leverage the state of the art in project management tools, techniques, and technology to realize and achieve organizational objectives.

The Masters in Projects Management Programme is designed for individuals with a higher education EQF/TPMQF Level 6 degree (in any specialty), appropriate work experience, and who choose to advance their career through excellence in management in addition to their primary specialty and who are in need of in-depth knowledge and skills in the field of Projects Management for the purpose of holding executive positions, accelerating their career development, or progressing in business.

This qualification does not lead to a warrant to practice the professions in Malta. Program graduates have the demonstrated capacity to perform the following:

The learner will be able to:

  • Create project plans covering the documentation of each activity that will need to take place in order to control the project's objectives and the costs involved, detail actions if there are any changes that develop during a project.
  • Lead stakeholder engagement utilizing interpersonal skills, including: taking initiative, integrity, honesty, collaboration, respect, empathy, and confidence.
  • Utilizing digital technology to manage internationally dispersed teams working on the same project.
  • Apply leadership and influence tools and techniques to achieve beneficial changes in the organizational culture, business systems and processes;
  • Perform duties applying entrepreneurship spirit and techniques on every level to inspire and increase team members self-management and accountability.
  • Proficiently apply the use of qualitative and statistical tools necessary in project management and Interpret project performance data to stimulate continuous improvement.
  • Apply critical thinking to justify decisions and judgements that address a complex project management issue considering the ethical, sustainable, and social consequences.

The program generally employs the educational instruments of “Flipped Classroom”, “Interactive eLearning” and “Continuous Assessment” through:-

- Weekly Online recorded asynchronous video-lectures covering all intended learning outcomes (per each module unit)

- Weekly quizzes &/or Assignments covering the outcomes of the video-lectures (per each module unit)

- Weekly scheduled synchronous online tutorial discussions. (per each module unit)

- Periodic synchronous seminars covering all learning outcomes for the program

- Periodic overarching assignments assessing the deep understanding and command of the interconnections of the intended learning outcomes between different program modules and units.

Method of delivery is through virtual classes (Zoom) and learning management system (Moodle LMS).

Students who complete this course will have the knowledge and abilities to master the fundamentals of agility and agile project management. This course will cover the history, methodology, and philosophy of agile project management and the Scrum framework. Students will discover how to distinguish between and combine Agile with other project management methodologies. Students gain knowledge of how to implement Agile’s value-driven delivery strategies to create the product vision and roadmap. Students also discover how to build, manage, and refine a product backlog, define user roles, and compose user stories using the organizational strategy as the cornerstone. Other subjects studied are project selection, chartering, scrum, Kanban, team development, release planning, value assignment, retrospectives, and risk management. Agile culture and ethics are also covered.
